After Prince Zymaan is arrested and taken to the Citadel of Hate on her orders, Prempress Cambion rages and slays two servants over his betrayal.
She spews many vile words about Prince Zymaan and his many inadequacies and his preference for arcane magic over the might of wielding a gawdamn weapon to strike your foe down up close so you can feel the bloodlust.
He is soft, even for a man. She worries he has spent too much time in shadow and forgotten that he is real. He was absent for the slaughter of most of his family line when the Mighty Grazz’t fell into Grand Lady Malavox’s trap and their Houses switched ranks. Now the Seventh House is in need of a rescue, for without a Matriarch it is at risk of falling even further. It could even fall further than Ninth and lose all House privileges entirely.
She scoffs, renewing her anger and disappointment with Prince Zymaan, when suddenly she hears a scream that she somehow just knows is the Abomination wailing over some loss.
She pauses to re-evaluate everything.
The Abomination exists.
The Abomination is here in the Abyss.
Maybe Prince Zymaan brought it here, in which case he is not a total bag of shit.
Some time later, while she is still considering recent developments, a sneaky little imp drops its invisibility and announces itself as Quagmire. In her current mood, Prempress Cambion is inclined to eat the head off the imp, but when it announces that it works for Prince Zymaan and that it knows where the Abomination is now, she again pauses to re-evaluate.
The imp tries to bargain for Prince Zymaan’s release from the Citadel of Hate, but it quickly learns that the first daughter of an Empress of the Third House of the Courts of Chaos in the Abyss does not negotiate with a lowly imp. In the final result, Quagmire escapes with his life and Prempress Cambion learns how Prince Zymaan brought the Abomination here, how it escaped, and how the Fifth House maneuvered to steal the prize.
She rages again but the servants do not check up on her so they live.
In her rage, however, she still blames Prince Zymaan for embarrassing her in front of her friends, the loss of the Abomination, and the conflict that will likely result to reclaim it. She decides to toughen up Prince Zymaan with some time in the Citadel of Hate anyway. He needs to learn his place too.
Besides, she has long been attracted to the idea of a subservient man in an exoskeleton, and she thinks now is the time to advance those plans with respect to this otherwise lame future husband.
[To be clear, Cambion can be harsh but I got nothing but love for Prince Zymaan].
